As predicted here on 15th October we now have confirmation that the famous Tenbury Wells Mistletoe Auctions are coming back into town, after 3 or 4 years in a field 4 miles out of town.
Sounds good, and it is good, though it’s not quite the home-coming you might expect. The new ‘in town’ location is the Business Park, on the edge of the town, not the old town centre site. So we probably still won’t fully regain the atmosphere of the old site, with shoppers and passers-by popping in to the auctions at random to look at the lots, and watch the proceedings.
But make no mistake, this has to be a good thing for the auctions, and for Tenbury, getting the sellers and buyers back into town, and ‘re-branding’ the auctions as Tenbury’s (they had, in recent years, been described in newspapers and TV coverage by location, with Tenbury being forgotten in favour of the local hamlet of Little Hereford).
