Time for a quick round-up of this year’s mistletoe events at Tenbury Wells. The organising of the Mistletoe Festival this season has been taken on by a new organisation, the Tenbury Mistletoe Association, a move which is probably very good, as it gives a proper structure to the event for the first time since the original Tenbury English Mistletoe Enterprise group (now disbanded) set it up and ran it from 2005 to 2007ish.

And so far it’s all looking good – lots of events both old and new, so hopefully something for everyone. A drama initiative is still awaiting confirmation – more on that later – but confirmed events include the three mistletoe auctions (27th November, 4th December and 11th December) and National Mistletoe Day (1st December) which includes the Druid procession/blessing and the crowning of the Mistletoe Queen,.
Plus a full season of other events including a Mistle-Art exhibition/competition, Mistletoe Fairy(!) making, plus seasonal entertainment from Damh the Bard in concert to Cat Weatherill story-telling. Not to mention Gyles Brandreth (who featured mistletoe on The One Show earlier this year), Richard Digance, Tenbury Town Band’s Christmas Concert and the Santa Parade.
Details of all are on the website – www.tenbury-mistletoe-festival.co.uk and in a downloadable leaflet.
I’ll cover the beer, and mistletoe bride, in later posts.
